Kenyan musician Shalkido Ga Cucu’s family has confirmed that his burial will take place on October 16, just days after his tragic death in a motorcycle accident. The artist, who leaves behind a wife and one child, passed away following a crash on October 5 along Thika Road, between Githurai and Carwash, near Roysambu.
The Accident
Witnesses reported that Shalkido’s motorbike was struck from behind as he was heading home. He was rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) in critical condition. Despite intensive medical care, he succumbed to severe internal bleeding affecting multiple areas of the brain.
Family Addresses Burial and Rumours
Speaking on behalf of the family, a relative confirmed the burial arrangements: “His burial will be on October 16 next week. The body will be moved from KU Funeral Home, not the one on Thika Road.”
The family also addressed circulating rumours suggesting foul play, firmly dismissing any claims of conspiracy. “As a family, it’s God who plans how one’s life begins and ends. There’s nothing like sacrifice or conspiracy. Let’s allow God’s plans to unfold,” the relative said.
Support and Tributes
Prior to his passing, Shalkido had sought financial help due to personal struggles. Celebrities, including Oga Obinna and Eric Omondi, had offered support. Following the tragedy, Obinna expressed his heartbreak and frustration after being unfairly linked to the incident, highlighting the impact of false narratives.
Fans have taken to social media to mourn Shalkido, sharing emotional tributes. Comments included, “Forever in our hearts, shine on your way champ,” and “May we never experience premature death.”
Remembering Shalkido
Shalkido’s father described his late son as humble, passionate, and driven by big dreams in music. Friends and colleagues have fondly remembered his creativity and collaborative spirit, highlighting the void his death has left in the entertainment industry, especially among young musicians who admired him.
Even in mourning, fans and peers continue to celebrate Shalkido’s legacy, vowing to keep his music alive and honor the mark he left on Kenya’s music scene.
