Spotify is set to host its first-ever live podcast recording event in Nairobi on September 6, 2025, marking a milestone in the streaming giant’s efforts to strengthen its footprint in Kenya’s fast-growing digital audio market.
The event, scheduled to take place at Shamba Café, will feature live sessions from three of Kenya’s most popular podcasts: TMI Podcast, The Sandwich Podcast, and So This Is Love. Each show will record in front of a live audience, offering fans a unique opportunity to experience their favourite hosts in an interactive, in-person setting.
The day will kick off at 10:00 AM with TMI Podcast, hosted by Lydia and Murugi Munyi, whose unfiltered conversations and candid takes have earned them a loyal following, particularly among female listeners. Known for addressing topics ranging from relationships and self-development to everyday challenges, the duo’s bold exchanges often spark engaging debates both on and off the mic.
At 2:00 PM, the spotlight will shift to The Sandwich Podcast, celebrated for its easy-going style, witty banter, and sharp humour. The hosts, famous for their playful inside jokes and lighthearted commentary on Kenyan life, are expected to bring their signature energy to the live stage.
The evening session, running from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, will feature So This Is Love, hosted by Julia Gaitho. With its immersive storytelling format, the podcast takes listeners through the emotional highs and lows of love—capturing moments from euphoric romance to bittersweet heartbreak.
Spotify, which boasts 626 million users globally—including 246 million premium subscribers—currently hosts over six million podcasts worldwide. The Nairobi event aligns with the platform’s broader strategy to foster relationships with local content creators in emerging markets.
Kenya’s podcasting sector has witnessed rapid growth in recent years, with creators drawing audiences across diverse themes such as wellness, finance, social commentary, and personal storytelling. By spotlighting local talent, Spotify aims to not only strengthen community engagement but also help Kenyan podcasters reach global listeners.
Tickets for the event are expected to be in high demand, as fans prepare to see some of the country’s most beloved voices come alive on stage.
