Popular YouTuber and philanthropist Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has moved to set the record straight on the status of his widely publicised 100-well project in Africa.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), MrBeast dismissed claims circulating online that the wells are no longer functional, accusing some individuals of spreading misinformation for financial gain.
“People desperate for ad revenue have falsely claimed that the 100 wells I built for people in need don’t work anymore, WITH ZERO PROOF!” he wrote.
To counter the allegations, the content creator shared a link to his Beast Philanthropy website, which contains a video and detailed evidence confirming all wells remain operational. The page documents each well’s location, complete with visuals and descriptions, serving as transparent proof of the project’s ongoing impact.
The initiative, which provides clean drinking water to over 500,000 people, spans five African nations, with the distribution as follows: Kenya (30 wells), Uganda (31 wells), Zimbabwe (22 wells), Cameroon (14 wells), and Somalia (3 wells). Many wells serve schools, hospitals, and villages, significantly improving health outcomes and reducing the time spent collecting water particularly for women and children.
MrBeast warned that the verification site might experience heavy traffic as people rush to check the evidence for themselves.
Beyond the Wells: Quiet Philanthropy in Kenya

While the 100-well project drew global attention, it is not the only way MrBeast has contributed to Africa. In April 2025, he quietly spearheaded a transformative initiative in Kenya’s Narok County at Oloirien Primary School.
The project delivered a wide range of resources, including meals, desks, a new kitchen, a well, a greenhouse, a tractor, and a truck. It also involved purchasing land for the school and launching a feeding programme aimed at tackling food insecurity among pupils.
According to MrBeast, these interventions aim to create long-term, sustainable change in communities, rather than one-off charitable gestures.
With his reputation as both a content creator and philanthropist, MrBeast remains committed to supporting African communities, despite occasional waves of criticism. As he puts it, his mission is simple: help people in need and ensure the work truly lasts.
