Popular TikToker Milcah Nyatuga Murang’a, widely known as Milly wa Doc, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, after battling pregnancy-related health issues. Her sudden death has left many of her fans and loved ones heartbroken.
Milly had been admitted to the Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital on May 26 after being referred from a private facility. She arrived at around 3:30 p.m. in a critical state, experiencing severe bleeding and pain. At the time of admission, she was about six months pregnant. Doctors immediately worked to stabilize her, including performing a blood transfusion before taking her into surgery later that evening. The operation aimed to remove the pregnancy and manage the bleeding.
Unfortunately, her condition continued to decline following the procedure. While recovering in the ward, medical staff noticed that her kidneys were not functioning properly. She began showing signs of sepsis, a severe and potentially fatal infection. Despite undergoing dialysis and a change in antibiotic treatment, her health continued to deteriorate, and she ultimately passed away on June 3.
It was revealed that this was not Milly’s first hospital admission related to the pregnancy. She had been hospitalized earlier in April with similar complications but had chosen to leave against medical advice. What transpired between the two hospital visits remains unclear.
Doctors later confirmed that kidney failure and sepsis, triggered by the pregnancy complications, were the immediate causes of her death. Her tragic passing highlighted the risks of leaving medical treatment prematurely and underscored the severity of her condition.
Following her death, her family has been in mourning and trying to organize her final sendoff. During a livestream, Milly’s son, Brian, shared that they were collaborating with her friends and relatives to plan the burial. Her brother also spoke about the tentative nature of the budget and appealed to the public for guidance and support.
The family set an initial burial budget of KSh 2.5 million. While the amount raised eyebrows, it was later explained that a portion of the funds would go toward buying land for her children, where Milly would be laid to rest. These plans were still in the early stages as the family awaited contributions from well-wishers.
Amid the mourning, a past video of Milly surfaced online in which she eerily spoke about her own death, sending chills through her fan base. It was also revealed that she had expressed a wish to be cremated upon her passing. Additionally, Kenyans came to learn that she had left behind unpaid debts amounting to KSh 195,000, further compounding the challenges her family faces.
Milly wa Doc’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief and reflection among her followers, many of whom admired her energy, humor, and resilience. Her story serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of proper maternal healthcare and the unpredictability of life.
