Kenyan radio presenter and actress Jacquey Nyaminde, popularly known as Wilbroda, has sparked debate after sharing her views on religion, life, and the afterlife. Speaking on Alex Mwakideu’s YouTube show Live with Mwakideu, the celebrated media personality candidly revealed that she does not believe in heaven, hell, or the existence of an afterlife.
Wilbroda, who rose to fame through the popular local comedy show Papa Shirandula, said her belief system is centered on how individuals live their lives on Earth rather than waiting for a promised afterlife.
“This is what I believe: you are the creator of your heaven, you are the creator of your hell. It depends on how you live on Earth,” she explained. “So when I am on this Earth, I will try my best to be the best human I can be.”
She went on to dismiss traditional religious teachings about the end of the world and eternal judgment. “I don’t think there will ever be a trumpet that will be heard all over the world,” Wilbroda said, adding, “When you die, you die. There is no afterlife.”
Her remarks touch on a deeply sensitive subject in a country where religion plays a central role in everyday life. For many, belief in heaven and hell remains a cornerstone of faith, making her perspective a bold departure from the mainstream.
Beyond her philosophical views, the radio host also opened up about a painful personal experience that shaped her outlook on life. She revealed that she once suffered a miscarriage, an ordeal that discouraged her from trying to conceive again.
“It was a very difficult time for me, but I chose to deal with it privately. Only a few people knew what I was going through,” she shared.
Wilbroda’s honesty highlights both the struggles and resilience of public figures who often face immense pressure to maintain a perfect image. While her views on life and death may not align with conventional beliefs, her message of living with kindness and authenticity resonates with many who seek meaning beyond traditional religious narratives.
