Kenyan comedian YY Comedian has called on local musicians to come together and release one high-quality tribute song in honour of the late Raila Odinga.
Through an Instagram post, YY emphasized that instead of multiple artists rushing to record separate tracks, a unified effort would create a more powerful and enduring piece.
“One Anthem for Baba”
“I see everyone rushing to release their own Raila tribute. But imagine if we united and created one powerful anthem — something timeless, something worthy of Baba,” he wrote, encouraging collaboration among Kenya’s music talent.
His message quickly gained traction on social media, with fans and industry figures supporting the idea of a joint tribute that could resonate more deeply with Kenyans.
Strength in Unity
YY’s call comes amid a wave of individual tributes from artists such as Prince Indah and other upcoming musicians. He believes that combining efforts into a single masterpiece would better reflect Raila Odinga’s legacy of unity and service to the nation.
“Let’s take time, gather our best talents, and create one masterpiece that every Kenyan can be proud of,” he added.
Support from Music Community
Music producers and fellow entertainers have echoed YY’s sentiments, noting that a collaborative tribute would symbolize the togetherness that Raila always championed throughout his life.
If realized, the project could become one of the largest collaborative music efforts in Kenya’s history, providing a heartfelt and unified farewell to a leader whose influence extended far beyond politics.
