Zari Hassan has spoken out following the news that her ex, Diamond Platnumz, has finally married longtime partner and fellow musician, Zuchu. The South Africa-based socialite praised Zuchu for her strength and resilience, acknowledging the challenges she has endured throughout her relationship with Diamond.
Zari, who shares two children with Diamond, noted that Zuchu had been through numerous breakups and moments of public embarrassment due to Diamond’s actions. Despite this, Zuchu remained by his side—a show of patience that Zari said deserved recognition. She remarked that Zuchu should be named “girlfriend of the year” for sticking with Diamond through thick and thin, adding that not many women would have tolerated what Zuchu did.
Zari, reflecting on her own experience, admitted she didn’t have the same level of patience. She pointed out that even Tanasha Donna, another of Diamond’s former partners, couldn’t stay in the relationship for long. Zuchu, on the other hand, has managed to stay and has now officially become Diamond’s wife.
In her message, Zari also addressed Diamond directly, encouraging him to change his ways now that he is married. She urged him to treat Zuchu with more respect and care, emphasizing that she is no longer just a girlfriend or a fellow artist under his label but now his wife. Zari’s advice came from a maternal perspective, asking Diamond to consider how he would feel if someone treated their daughter, Latiffah, the way he has treated women in the past.
She pointed out that being a wife comes with expectations of mutual respect and support and hoped that Diamond would rise to the occasion. According to her, Zuchu has endured a lot emotionally, and it was time for Diamond to reflect on his actions and become a better partner.
The conversation around the couple’s union gained momentum after a video surfaced showing Diamond at fellow singer Juma Jux’s wedding. In the clip, Diamond, seemingly under the influence, mentioned that he was next in line to get married. While some dismissed the statement, citing his past empty promises about settling down, the private wedding with Zuchu came as a surprise to many.
However, not everyone viewed the marriage positively. Tanzanian singer Harmonize suggested that the union was more of a business move than a romantic one. According to him, Diamond married Zuchu to prevent her from leaving his music label, hinting at financial motivations rather than genuine commitment. These remarks stirred controversy, with some accusing Harmonize of being envious, especially as more artists in the region are now settling down.
Despite the speculation, Zari’s message focused on growth, responsibility, and the hope that Diamond will treat his new marriage with the seriousness it deserves. Her words highlighted the importance of treating one’s partner with dignity, especially when children are involved. Her call for Diamond to think of how he’d want men to treat his daughter served as a powerful reminder that personal actions often echo across generations.
