Tanzanian star Zuchu has spoken out to address rumors about her music career and marriage to Diamond Platnumz, firmly denying claims that her husband helps her write or refine her songs.
“Everything by Zuchu is Done by Zuchu”
In an interview with the BBC, Zuchu emphasized her independence as an artiste, saying she creates her music from start to finish without Diamond’s direct input. “Everything you see me put out as my music, I am working on it. The label is just there to give me money. Everything by Zuchu is done by Zuchu. Gone are those days when Diamond sits there to ask about verses. He is busy, hectic. He only helps me when critiquing and analyzing,” she explained.
She stressed that her success is built on her own hard work, dismissing critics who claim Diamond is the brains behind her artistry.
Balancing Marriage and Music
Since marrying Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu has often faced questions about how she balances being a wife and an artiste signed to her husband’s label. She revealed that she draws a clear line between her personal and professional life. “Nothing has changed, I am still the same person. However, priorities have now changed. When my husband is at home, he becomes number one,” she said.
Zuchu added that sometimes she has to remind herself that Diamond is her husband at home, not the record label boss. Despite other artistes leaving Wasafi Records to grow independently, she said she sees no reason to part ways. “I have not seen any reason to leave because I have the boss. He is at home with me,” she explained.
Prepared for Motherhood
Opening up about her personal life, Zuchu revealed that she has mentally prepared herself to become a mother when the time comes. She praised her supportive family, who she believes will stand by her in the journey of motherhood.
Reaction to Kasarani Controversy
Zuchu also addressed a viral video from her CHAN 2024 closing ceremony performance in Kenya, which appeared to show fans singing the national anthem during her set. She dismissed the footage as manipulated and called out bloggers for spreading false narratives. She further denied ever saying she disliked Kenyans or that she would refuse to perform in the country.
Fans React
Her remarks drew mixed reactions online. One fan praised her eloquence, saying, “Zuhura anajieleza vizuri.” Another wrote, “I admire this lady, she is really a big motivation.” Others, however, questioned her claims, with one user commenting, “Ati Diamond is busy and hectic, hajajua hio maana.”
Despite the speculation, Zuchu remains firm: her artistry is her own, her marriage is stable, and she is not planning to leave Wasafi Records anytime soon.
