Tanzanian music stars Zuchu and Diamond Platnumz recently tied the knot in a quiet, private ceremony that surprised many of their fans. The couple, known for their on-and-off relationship over the years, finally made their union official—yet one key figure was noticeably absent: Zuchu’s mother, Khadija Kopa.
Speaking in a recent interview, Khadija Kopa opened up about her absence, setting the record straight for critics and fans alike. She explained that while she was not physically present at her daughter’s wedding, her support and blessings were unwavering. According to her, the Islamic marriage ceremony (Nikkah) had already been performed, and once the Sheikh officiates and the proper declarations are made, the marriage is valid. The celebration that follows, she emphasized, is secondary.
She clarified that she couldn’t attend due to pressing business commitments and also noted that she could not stand in as the “wali,” a role traditionally taken by a male guardian. Despite not being at the event, she expressed gratitude that her daughter had finally been married, stating it had always been her prayer. Her joy was clear as she hit back at critics who previously doubted that Zuchu would ever find a husband. “She got married. What more do they want?” she asked.
The singer’s mother also addressed long-standing rumors of tension between Zuchu and her soon-to-be mother-in-law, Mama Dangote. Without going into details, she dismissed the claims, choosing instead to focus on the positives in her daughter’s life and her new chapter in marriage.
Interestingly, this major life move came shortly after Zuchu had expressed uncertainty about her future with Diamond Platnumz. While attending fellow Tanzanian artist Juma Jux’s grand wedding, Zuchu admitted that she had left the idea of marriage in God’s hands. She said she was no longer pressuring Diamond and wasn’t sure she would ever settle down with him. Her comments suggested that despite her hopes of starting a family someday, she had grown weary of chasing the idea—especially with Diamond, whose commitment had previously been in question.
Diamond, when asked about marriage during the same wedding, laughed off the question. His light-hearted response drew criticism from some fans, who felt he wasn’t taking Zuchu seriously. Despite this, the two later appeared together at a hotel launch in Tanzania, where their affectionate body language hinted at a rekindled connection.
Their chemistry at the event didn’t go unnoticed. Zuchu dazzled on stage while Diamond spoke highly of her, sharing moments from their recent conversations and praising her openly. The sweet gestures and flirtatious banter reignited public speculation about the strength of their bond.
Adding to the buzz, Diamond hinted that he might be next in line to get married. Inspired by Juma Jux’s extravagant wedding, which featured five different ceremonies, he stated that the bar had been set high. Whether or not Diamond truly plans to settle down this time remains to be seen—but with their marriage now official, it seems both he and Zuchu are embracing a fresh chapter.
