China Media Group (CMG) hosted a vibrant cultural exchange event in Rome on Wednesday to commemorate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Italy. The celebration highlighted the long-standing friendship and deepening cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the fields of media, culture, education, and sports.
The event was attended by several high-profile figures, including Shen Haixiong, CMG president and vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee; Giuseppe Valditara, Italy’s Minister of Education; Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC); and Jia Guide, the Chinese ambassador to Italy. Over 200 guests from various sectors also took part in the festivities.
One of the highlights of the event was the official launch of the 2025 Chinese Film Week. This initiative aims to deepen cultural ties by introducing nine exceptional Chinese films to Italian audiences, showcasing the richness and diversity of China’s cinematic storytelling. The film selection reflects a dynamic and modern image of Chinese society, bridging cultural understanding through the lens of cinema.
In addition, CMG unveiled a new collaborative documentary project with the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026. The documentary will spotlight compelling narratives from Italian sports and culture, emphasizing the shared Olympic spirit and mutual respect between the two countries.
CMG also announced its cutting-edge role as the only global media organization to provide 8K ultra-high-definition broadcasting of the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics. The group plans to produce a series of high-quality programs and documentaries to offer viewers around the world a rich, immersive experience of the Games. This technological milestone underscores CMG’s commitment to innovation in international broadcasting and its dedication to global audiences.
As China and Italy mark more than half a century of diplomatic relations, this cultural exchange event not only celebrates past achievements but also lays the foundation for continued collaboration in media and culture, reinforcing the enduring bond between the two nations.
