Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) hosted a mock event for its upcoming Run for Seniors campaign at Karura Forest on Saturday. The event brought together a diverse group of corporate and aviation stakeholders in support of Kenya’s elderly population, highlighting a shared commitment to the dignity and well-being of senior citizens.
Attendees included representatives from Jambojet, Safarilink, Centum Re, Amref, Bluebird Aviation, Dragonfly, Jubilee Insurance, Kasas Air, Hawk Aviation, Renegade Air, Futuresoft, Safezone Auto Parts, and 748 Air Services all united under one goal: to advocate for the rights and care of Kenya’s aging population.
Speaking at the event, MIC Director Amb. Amina Mohamed expressed heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors. “Your presence today reflects a collective spirit of compassion and responsibility for those who once nurtured us,” she said.
MIC President Ahmed Jibril emphasized the importance of the mock run as more than just a rehearsal. “We are here to remind the public that seniors still matter. They deserve our attention, our care, and our action,” he remarked.
Moses Mwangi, Managing Director of 748 Air Services, urged partners to move beyond symbolic support. “Supporting our seniors isn’t charity — it’s our duty. I urge every sponsor to get their teams registered. Let’s turn up in numbers on July 11th for a cause that truly matters,” he said.
Corporate leaders echoed this call to action. “Jambojet is proud to support a cause that uplifts the generation that came before us,” said Renee Wachuka, Brand Executive – Loyalty & Sustainability. Gladys Wanjiru Mburu of Centum Re added, “Development must go hand-in-hand with dignity for all generations.”
The official Run for Seniors will be held on July 11, 2025, at Karura Forest. Proceeds will support MIC’s ongoing programs that deliver monthly food baskets and medical assistance to over 1,000 elderly beneficiaries in Isiolo and Kakamega counties.
