Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programs Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has dismissed allegations that he is exploiting government projects to campaign for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wamuthende in the upcoming Mbeere North by-election.
Speaking during a public forum at Mbarwari Secondary School in Muminji Ward, Ruku emphasized that his constitutional duty is to ensure equitable development across the country, not political favoritism.
“I will not stop reaching out to the people of Kenya with development. That is my responsibility. No amount of criticism will stop me,” he said.
Ruku, who previously served as Mbeere North MP, reiterated his support for Wamuthende, describing him as a leader who will align with President William Ruto’s administration and advance ongoing development projects.
He pointed to key infrastructure and water projects in the constituency, including the Gikuyari–Muminji–Kirie–Ishiara road upgrade and the Kiambeere Mega Water Project, designed to provide clean water across Kiambeere, Mutito, Kirie, Iria Itune, Ndurumori, and Evurori.
Ruku further revealed that President Ruto will soon launch the Kiambere Dam Bulk Water Project, a transformative initiative aimed at ending chronic water shortages in Kiambere, Muminji, and Evurori wards.
The CS also highlighted progress on eight electrification projects, saying they will expand access to power and stimulate local businesses.
He urged residents to reject leaders he accused of spreading division for selfish gain.
“Do not allow selfish individuals to divide you for their own survival. The interests of Mbeere North must come first,” he warned.
Turning his criticism to the opposition, Ruku described their attacks as empty rhetoric, insisting they have no credible alternative for the region’s development.
Ruku concluded by rallying locals to support the government, assuring them of President Ruto’s commitment to Mbeere North.
“The people of Mbeere North will not be left behind. The President has a special place in his heart for this constituency,” he said.
