Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure that every part of the country benefits from development projects under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Speaking on Friday during an empowerment meeting in Machakos Town Constituency, the DP assured residents that no county or ward would be left behind. “Every County, every Ward in this country will benefit from development projects that will improve the lives of the people,” he affirmed.
In Machakos County, the government is already undertaking major development initiatives. These include the construction of 15 modern markets and several affordable housing projects targeting thousands of units, especially for students in universities, technical institutes, and colleges. Additionally, stalled road projects in the county have been revived, further boosting connectivity and infrastructure.
The DP also highlighted the ongoing expansion of electricity access, with a target of 6,500 new household connections in the region, at a cost of Sh1.4 billion. “When the time comes, we will account properly for every project in every region which the government has started, including here in Machakos,” he added.
Beyond infrastructure, Gachagua emphasized the importance of national unity for sustainable development. He urged all communities to coexist peacefully and for leaders to uphold respect for each other and the citizens. “There is no room for divisions along tribal, religious, gender, or age lines,” he stressed.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who also attended the event, said the empowerment initiative seeks to uplift Kenyans by supporting local businesses and creating sustainable income-generating opportunities, especially for youth and women.
“We will continue to support them because our interest is uplifting their lives as we promised through the Bottom-up Economic Transformative Agenda,” Prof. Kindiki said.
The Economic Empowerment Program focuses on boosting Saccos and groups that support small-scale traders such as mama mboga, boda boda riders, carpenters, and shoe shiners—sectors that play a key role in Kenya’s economic fabric.
The DP’s message reinforces the administration’s promise of inclusive development and economic empowerment for all Kenyans, regardless of region.
