Residents of Embu and Machakos counties have been notified of upcoming mass auctions of uncollected vehicles, motorcycles, and other items lying idle at local police stations and private premises.
In a gazette notice dated August 26, Petfriend Auctioneers announced that it would, within 14 days, dispose of 15 motorcycles currently held at Kiritiri Police Station in Embu County. The motorcycle brands slated for auction include Captain, Sonlink, Tiger, Hadjin, Skygo, TVS, and Boxer.
The notice, issued under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act (Cap. 38) and sanctioned by the Principal Magistrate’s Court at Siakago, directed owners to collect their property immediately. “If the aforesaid motorcycles will not be collected at the expiry of this notice, the same shall be sold by public auction or private treaty without further notice,” the auctioneers warned.
Petfriend Auctioneers also revealed plans to auction over 40 motorcycles, six motor vehicles, bicycles, scrap, and carts currently stored at Matuu Police Station in Machakos County within the next 30 days. The motorcycles include popular brands such as Ranger, Skygo, Dayun, Bajaj, Flyjet, Honda, Tiger, Yamaha, Shineray, Boxer, Delight, and Jincheng.
The motor vehicles listed for disposal are Toyota Sprinter, Mazda, Nissan Sunny, Toyota G, Mercedes E190, and a Kast wreck. This auction is backed by a court order under the Miscellaneous Application Case No. E113/2025 at the Kithimani Law Courts.
Separately, Wotech Kenya Limited has also announced plans to auction industrial equipment left uncollected at its Athi River offices. The items include submersible pumps, motors, cables, surface pumps, control panels, and water meters. Owners have until September 22 to retrieve their property, after which Wotech may auction or donate the goods.
The series of auctions highlights a growing trend of police stations and private firms seeking legal redress to dispose of long-abandoned assets. Authorities have urged affected owners to claim their property promptly to avoid losses.
