Equity Bank Kenya has reported a temporary interruption affecting its bank-to-mobile wallet transfer service, a feature widely used by customers for daily transactions.
In a statement issued on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the lender confirmed that the disruption had impacted real-time transfers from bank accounts to mobile money platforms such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money, and T-Kash.
“We are experiencing a service interruption affecting bank-to-mobile wallet transactions. Kindly bear with us as the technical team works to restore the services,” the bank said in its official notice.
Equity assured customers that its technical team was working around the clock to identify and resolve the issue, pledging to restore full functionality as soon as possible. The bank also apologised for the inconvenience and urged customers to remain patient during the outage period.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Normal services will resume once the technical issues are resolved,” the statement added.
The lender took the opportunity to caution customers against fraudsters who often exploit such service downtimes to scam unsuspecting users by posing as bank officials.
Equity reiterated that it communicates with customers only through its verified contact number (0763 000 000) and reminded users never to share sensitive banking details such as PINs, passwords, or one-time passwords (OTPs).
“Please remember, Equity calls you from only ONE number — 0763 000 000. Do not engage with anyone asking for your personal banking details. Equity will never request your bank details, PIN, password, OTP, or card information via phone or SMS,” the statement read.
The notice comes amid growing reliance on digital and mobile banking in Kenya, where millions of users depend on mobile wallets for sending, receiving, and withdrawing funds daily.
