The Presidential Digital Talent Internship Programme (PDTP) has opened 400 internship slots for recent Kenyan university graduates, offering a chance to gain hands-on experience in the fast-growing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
In a notice released on Tuesday, August 26, the ICT Authority invited qualified youths to apply for Cohort X of the prestigious programme, which runs for 12 months. Applicants have until Monday, September 15, 2025, to submit their applications.
The PDTP, a flagship initiative spearheaded by President William Ruto, equips young graduates with technical, professional, and leadership skills through placements in both public and private sector organisations. The objective is to nurture talent and prepare ICT professionals who can take up emerging opportunities in the digital economy.
A total of 400 positions have been advertised in specialized areas, including Network & Digital Infrastructure (150), Software Development & Artificial Intelligence (100), Information Security (50), Multimedia (Graphic Design) & Digital Marketing (50), and Data Analytics (50). Successful candidates will receive mentorship, career guidance, and the opportunity to build professional networks.
The programme has strict eligibility criteria. Applicants must be Kenyan youths aged 21 to 29, unemployed, and recent graduates (from January 2023 onwards) with at least First or Upper Second-Class Honours in ICT or related engineering fields. Those awaiting graduation by December 2025 may apply with a stamped reference letter from their universities. Candidates must also be ready for deployment in government organisations across all 47 counties on a full-time basis.
Additionally, applicants should not have participated in any other government internship. The ICT Authority emphasized inclusivity, encouraging women, persons with disabilities, and graduates from Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) regions to apply.
Interested candidates must complete the online application form on the ICT Authority recruitment portal and attach the required documents. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews, where they may be asked to demonstrate technical competence in their chosen fields.
The PDTP continues to play a critical role in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry demands, ensuring that Kenya’s youth are well-positioned to drive the country’s digital transformation.
