ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has once again addressed the online chatter surrounding his fashion sense this time with a lighthearted and humorous approach during the 2025 Annual Media Summit held on Wednesday.
Kabogo, who began trending on social media earlier this month following a widely circulated photo of him wearing a white shirt, red necktie, beige trousers, brown striped socks, and safari boots, took the teasing in stride. Critics had poked fun not only at his attire but also questioned his skills in the ICT sector.
During his speech at the summit, Kabogo joked about the attention his dressing had received. He shared a playful anecdote about how he scanned the room to see if any of the other men present were wearing trousers long enough to touch their shoes none were. “Nimeangalia suruali za wenzangu kama kuna moja imeguza kiatu nikapata hakuna. Lakini Wakenya hivyo ndivyo walivyo,” he said with a smile, highlighting a common Kenyan fashion trait with warmth and wit.
Kabogo also offered advice to those who may be sensitive to criticism or online trolling. “If you start worrying about what people say, you’ll have a problem in life taking everything to heart,” he said, emphasizing the importance of resilience in the face of negativity.
This isn’t Kabogo’s first time engaging with the public’s reactions. On Tuesday, he tweeted, “I’m enjoying it, if no one makes such, you need to be very worried,” signaling his comfort with the buzz and a refusal to be rattled by detractors.
Kabogo’s response reveals a refreshing attitude toward public scrutiny and serves as a reminder that humor and confidence can be powerful tools in managing criticism, especially in the digital age where every detail is magnified. His message encourages people to focus on their work and not let online opinions dominate their lives.
