The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has officially welcomed a fresh cohort of recruits at the Defence Forces Recruit Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. Cohort 01/25, comprising both general duty recruits and tradesmen and tradeswomen, marks the beginning of their journey into military service.
The reception ceremony, full of colour and pageantry, was presided over by Brigadier Alphonce Ndar, who commended the new recruits for successfully passing the rigorous selection process. He urged them to embrace the values of discipline, loyalty, and resilience as they prepare for the demanding training ahead.
“I wish you nothing but success. Stay healthy, take care of yourselves, and approach your training with discipline and commitment,” Brigadier Ndar said. He emphasized that the recruits were joining a proud institution with a long-standing tradition of producing men and women who serve the nation with integrity and professionalism.
Located in the heart of Eldoret, DFRTS is the foundation of all KDF personnel. It plays a pivotal role in shaping recruits into dependable soldiers ready to defend and serve Kenya both locally and internationally. The school is renowned for its structured programs and high standards, which ensure every recruit is equipped for the challenges of military life.
Upon arrival, the new recruits will undergo a series of preliminary processes. These include document verification, medical screening, biometric registration, issuance of kits, and an initial orientation. These steps are designed to ensure that each recruit meets the KDF standards and is fully prepared for the rigorous training that lies ahead.
Cohort 01/25 represents the ongoing commitment of the Kenya Defence Forces to build a disciplined, skilled, and professional military force capable of safeguarding the nation and its interests.
