The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB) have officially graduated the first cohort of Certified Quality Professionals (CQP), marking a significant step in Kenya’s journey to professionalize quality management and strengthen national competitiveness.
The initiative, launched in 2019, culminated in the graduation of eight pioneering professionals who have completed rigorous training to become quality champions. These professionals are expected to take on key roles as lead auditors, management representatives, and quality specialists in sectors such as manufacturing, agribusiness, and services.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony on Friday, KEBS Managing Director Esther Ngari hailed the achievement as a bold investment in Kenya’s future, emphasizing that the programme is designed to nurture a national corps of quality champions.
“We are proud to recognise the pioneering cohort of Certified Quality Professionals. This collaboration with KASNEB is about building a national corps of quality champions,” said Ngari. “These individuals will carry the culture of quality forward, ensuring excellence becomes a sustainable legacy for generations.”
Ngari added that the partnership aligns with KEBS’s mission to develop people and institutions that drive continuous improvement, innovation, and global competitiveness.
KASNEB CEO Dr. Nicholas Letting’ congratulated the graduates, terming the collaboration a transformative milestone in strengthening professionalism and excellence through the Certified Quality Professional programme.
“These professionals are now equipped to serve as lead auditors and management representatives, particularly in the agro-processing and manufacturing sectors,” said Letting’.
He urged industry leaders to professionalize the role of management representatives, stressing that investing in people remains central to achieving quality-driven competitiveness, innovation, and national growth.
The graduation sets the stage for future cohorts and reinforces Kenya’s commitment to building a sustainable culture of quality that supports both local and global business standards.
