Kenya has intensified its preparations for the landmark Africa-France Summit, scheduled for May 2026 in Nairobi, following a strategic visit by Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei to Paris. The engagements aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and advance the Summit’s agenda.
Sing’oei opened his visit with a key meeting with Nicolas Forissier, France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness. Accompanied by Kenya’s Ambassador to France, Betty Cherwon, the PS highlighted discussions on expanding economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
“Our meeting explored opportunities to deepen Kenya-France economic and trade relations,” said Sing’oei. “Both governments are keen on accelerating partnerships across emerging sectors.” He also emphasized that preparations for the Africa-France Summit were central to the discussions.
The 2026 Nairobi Summit is expected to attract over 5,000 delegates, including Heads of State, government officials, private sector leaders, representatives from international organizations, civil society, and global media. Sing’oei described the event as a pivotal platform for renewed dialogue, partnerships, and shared progress between Africa and France amid a shifting global landscape.
During his visit, Sing’oei also held a comprehensive engagement with Mme Eléonore Caroit, France’s Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships, and French Nationals Abroad. The discussions reaffirmed the strength of Kenya-France relations and highlighted the Summit as a key moment to consolidate diplomatic, developmental, and cultural gains.
Sing’oei’s Paris engagements culminated in a high-level review with Jeremie Robert, Advisor to French President Emmanuel Macron, at the Palais de l’Élysée. The meeting focused on joint preparations for the Africa Forward Partnership Summit, an expanded initiative co-hosted by Kenya and France.
Kenya’s proactive diplomacy underscores its commitment to delivering a Summit that not only elevates Africa-France relations but also advances the goals of Africa Vision 2063, positioning Nairobi as a hub for continental dialogue and global partnership.
