Kenya has earned global recognition after being ranked the world’s friendliest country in 2025 by the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller in its annual Readers’ Choice Awards. The East African nation scored an impressive 98.46, topping the list of 10 countries celebrated for their exceptional hospitality and welcoming spirit.
According to the publication, Kenya’s rise to the top spot is largely credited to the country’s renowned safari tour guides, who make travellers feel completely at ease even when up close with the Big Five. “The ‘Big Five’ animals usually take centre stage here, but behind each lovely Kenyan safari, there’s a whole host of even lovelier guides who make you feel completely at ease, even when meters away from a prowling lion,” the report read in part.
The report also highlighted Nairobi’s eclectic nightlife and Kenya’s dreamy coastline, emphasizing the country’s balance between adventure and relaxation. “Nairobi’s nightlife scene showcases Kenya’s passion for parties. At the same time, those looking for a more relaxed break can explore the coastline, dotted with five-star resorts along endless stretches of white sand,” it added.
In response, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano expressed pride in the recognition, celebrating the spirit and warmth of the Kenyan people. Taking to her official X account on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Miano wrote:
“We are immensely proud to share that Condé Nast Traveller readers have voted Kenya the World’s Friendliest Country. This significant recognition is a powerful testament to the genuine warmth, exceptional hospitality, and welcoming nature of the Kenyan people—from our expert safari guides to our coastal communities.”
Miano dedicated the award to all Kenyans, emphasizing that the heart of Magical Kenya lies in its people. “This recognition belongs to every single Kenyan whose warmth and spirit make our destination truly magical. Karibu Kenya!” she concluded.
