Kenya Week at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, launched on a high note Saturday evening with a vibrant Diaspora Networking Dinner hosted by the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA). Held at the Osaka International Convention Center, the event marked the official opening of a week dedicated to showcasing Kenya’s cultural, economic, and investment potential under the theme “Kenya Rising: From the Bottom Up.”
The gathering brought together Kenyan professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and community leaders residing in Japan, all united by a common vision of contributing to Kenya’s socio-economic transformation through strategic diaspora engagement.
Speaking during the ceremony, KEPROBA CEO and Commissioner General for Kenya at Expo 2025, Ms. Floice Mukabana, underscored the importance of diaspora communities in driving Kenya’s global presence and export agenda. “We are keen on areas of engagement and strategic collaboration like marketing linkages that are focused on exporting to Japan, especially for high export potential such as flowers, tea, coffee, nuts, and horticultural products,” she said.
Ms. Mukabana also emphasized Kenya’s ambition to position itself as a premier destination for trade, investment, and tourism. She pointed out that leveraging Japanese networks could help Kenya expand into broader markets across North and Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Pacific—creating new frontiers for Kenyan exports and partnerships.
The event was graced by prominent dignitaries including Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade, and Industry Lee Kinyanjui, Kenya’s Ambassador to Japan Mr. Moi Lemoshira, and KEPROBA Chairman Jas Bedi.
Kenya Week at Expo 2025 will continue to spotlight the country’s transformative journey, aligning with President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. It offers a unique platform for showcasing Kenya’s innovation, culture, and economic potential, while strengthening diplomatic and trade ties with Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
As the celebration unfolds, Kenya’s message is clear: the future is bright, and the nation is rising powered by its people, partnerships, and a compelling global vision.
