Huduma Kenya has urged citizens to visit its service centres nationwide and collect government documents that have already been processed but remain unclaimed. The call comes as the agency intensifies efforts to reduce a growing backlog affecting service delivery and delaying access to vital identification and certification services.
In a notice released on Friday, Huduma Kenya revealed that thousands of national identity cards, smart driving licences, and birth certificates are ready for collection at its 59 centres across the country.
“Thousands of documents are ready for collection at Huduma Centres. Pass by today and pick yours — let’s reduce the backlog together!” the agency posted, encouraging timely pick-ups.
The latest data shows that 93,295 national ID cards, 31,327 smart driving licences, and 124,299 birth certificates have already been processed and dispatched. However, as of September 2025, at least 82,506 ID cards, 57,444 driving licences, and 22,524 birth certificates remain uncollected, prompting the call for citizens to claim their documents promptly.
Huduma Kenya operates through four main service channels: the 59 Huduma Centres, the Huduma Contact and Tele-Counselling Centre (reachable via 1919), Huduma Mashinani outreaches, and digital platforms including the website (www.hudumakenya.go.ke) and USSD *191#. These platforms provide self-service, assisted, and electronic government services under one roof.
In addition, several Huduma Centres now offer first-time ID applications, bringing services closer to citizens who previously had to travel long distances to national registration offices. Centres offering this service include Baringo, Bomet, Busia, Embu, Eldoret, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kakamega, Kericho, Kiambu, Kisumu, Machakos, Mombasa, Nakuru, and many more.
Huduma Kenya encourages all citizens with pending documents or intending to apply for a first-time ID to visit the nearest centre with the necessary documents. The move aims to enhance access to essential government services and ensure every eligible Kenyan obtains a national ID efficiently.
