Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced planned power interruptions affecting various areas across nine counties on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. The scheduled power outages, set between 8 am and 5 pm depending on the region, are part of essential system maintenance to ensure the reliability and safety of the national power network.
The affected counties include Nairobi, Nakuru, Bomet, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, Migori, Nyeri, Embu, and Kiambu. Residents and businesses in these areas are advised to make necessary preparations in anticipation of the disruptions.
Nairobi: Power outages will occur from 9 am to 5 pm in several parts of Nairobi. The affected areas include Muthithi Road, Ojijo Road, Parkland Road, Mpesi Road, and Mogotio Road. Additionally, power will be interrupted around key locations such as Juja Road, Moi Airbase, Total Petrol Station, OLA Petrol Station, St. Teresa School, Shell Petrol Station, and parts of Mlango Kubwa.
Nakuru: In Nakuru, the outages will run from 9 am to 4 pm. Impacted locations include Meadows, Free Area, Kwa Murogi, Baharini Nawassco Boreholes, Naka, Happy Cow, Sec 58, Dog Secondary, Kabachia, Kisulisuli, YMCA, Ebony, Jamhuri, and Menengai and Lions Schools.
Bomet: Power cuts from 9 am to 4 pm will affect Abosi, Olchobosei, Njipiship, Ndamama, Tagitech, Rongai, Emurua Dikkir, Murkan Market, Kurangurik Market, Mogondo Market, and surrounding customers.
Uasin Gishu: Areas such as Kitingia, Cherus, Ndungulu, Kaptega, Kapsundei, Sengalo, Chereber, Kapchorwa, Ndanai, and adjacent customers will face outages from 8 am to 5 pm.
Kakamega: Power will be disrupted from 8:30 am to 5 pm in locations including Samitsi, Khalenda, Malava, Malanga, Malichi, Kimangeti, Tumbeni, Kakoi, Kambi Mwanza, and others.
Migori: Power cuts from 9 am to 4 pm will affect Migori Town and surrounding areas such as Shell Petrol Station, Total Petrol Station, Migori TTC, Jua Kali Migori, Life Care Hospital, and more.
Nyeri: Areas like Muthinga Market, Gichira, Kiangacha, Kangaita, and Kiriko will experience outages from 9 am to 5 pm.
Embu: The power interruption will affect Manyatta, Kavutiri, Mungania, Kamugere, Kathande, Rutune, and nearby regions between 9 am and 5 pm.
Kiambu: Power cuts from 9 am to 5 pm will hit Mukuyuini, Juja Farm Athi, Kwa Murage, Kwa Ruhi, Komo Market, Fara Inya, and adjacent locations.
