Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has released a notice announcing scheduled power outages set to affect parts of ten counties on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. The planned interruptions, expected to occur between 8am and 5pm in various regions, are intended to facilitate crucial maintenance work on the national electricity grid.
In Nairobi, several areas will be without power from 9am to 5pm. These include Shauri Moyo AP Camp, Shauri Moyo Police Station, Link Hotel, and surrounding areas. Other affected zones are along ACK Road, Red Soil, and Mwiki Township, including parts of Maji Mazuri, Mwiki Police Station, and schools such as Nyawai Secondary and Mwiki Good Hope. Additional outages will impact Moi Education Centre, Wilson Airport, Sunshine, T-Mall, and areas near Shell and Rubis petrol stations.
Nakuru County will experience outages in areas such as Nkoilale Market, Sekenani Market, and Talek Market, all from 9am to 5pm. In Uasin Gishu, power cuts will occur between 10am and 4pm in locations like Bishop Birech, Wonifour, Sirwo, and Chepkongony.
In Nandi County, Chepterit and nearby areas will face an outage from 9am to 5pm. Kakamega will see interruptions in Matungu, Namakoyi, Harambe, and Munami, among others. Vihiga County will also be affected, with outages in Ebuyangu, Luanda Town, and surrounding villages.
In Siaya County, residents in areas such as Sulwe East, Randago, and Mur Malanga will experience daylong disruptions. Nyeri will see outages in Kiaruhiu Market, Mathia, and several villages including Gathaithi and Kiangumara.
Parts of Kiambu, including Miguta, Ndathini, and Waruhiu Farm, will also be affected from 9am to 5pm. Meanwhile, in Kilifi, areas like Watamu Village, Mawe Nzuri Resort, and Blue Bay will experience power cuts from 9am to 2pm.
KPLC advises affected customers to plan accordingly and apologizes for any inconvenience caused, reiterating that the scheduled interruptions are necessary for system upgrades and improved reliability.
