Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power interruptions affecting various areas in Nairobi and Uasin Gishu counties on Sunday. The utility firm stated that the outages, part of routine network maintenance and upgrades, will take place at different times between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
In Nairobi County, the outage will impact parts of Loresho from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Specifically, residents and businesses located along Kyuna Road, Lower Kabete Road, Loresho Crescent, Kibagare Valley, Shanzy Road, and surrounding areas will experience interruptions. These areas are expected to remain without electricity throughout the scheduled period as technicians work to enhance service reliability and improve infrastructure.
In Uasin Gishu County, two major regions are set to be affected by power disruptions, with outages scheduled from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The first region includes Kapchesukunwo and Kapkatembu, covering areas such as Kapchesukunwo, Soiin Primary School, Kapkatembu, and nearby customers. The power cut will allow KPLC engineers to carry out essential maintenance to stabilize the local distribution network.
The second region encompasses Kipkenyo and Leseru, with the blackout affecting residents and businesses in Kipkenyo, Kosyin, Leseru, Seiyot, and surrounding areas. According to KPLC, the scheduled works are crucial to ensuring a stable and efficient electricity supply in the long term.
KPLC has advised residents and commercial establishments in the affected areas to take the necessary precautions and plan accordingly. The company noted that although the disruptions may cause temporary inconvenience, the maintenance works are aimed at enhancing power supply reliability and preventing unexpected outages in the future.
“We urge our customers in the affected regions to bear with us as we undertake these necessary improvements to our infrastructure,” KPLC said in a public notice.
Customers are encouraged to treat all electrical installations as live during the outage period and to report any emergencies or unexpected issues to KPLC through official customer service channels.
