The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced an eight-hour maintenance of its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS).
The downtime will start at 4:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
KRA says the maintenance will affect all stakeholders who rely on the system for daily customs operations. Users are urged to plan their transactions ahead of time to avoid delays.
“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS from Sunday, September 14, 2025, 4 a.m. to Sunday, September 14, 2025, 12 p.m. We regret any inconvenience caused,” KRA said.
What is iCMS?
The Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) is an online platform that helps KRA manage customs processes. It allows users to:
- Clear goods at ports
- Pay duties and taxes
- Track cargo as it enters or leaves the country
The system replaced the old Simba system in 2019. iCMS is designed to make customs operations faster, more efficient, and transparent.
Services Affected During Maintenance
During the scheduled downtime, key services will be unavailable. These include:
- Submission of documentation
- Cargo clearance
- Duty and tax payments
- Tracking of consignments
This may temporarily disrupt import and export activities. KRA says users should complete pending transactions before 4:00 a.m. on Sunday to avoid delays.
Why Maintenance is Important
Scheduled maintenance ensures that iCMS continues to operate efficiently and securely. The system plays a crucial role in facilitating trade while protecting Kenya’s borders from illegal goods.
KRA urges all stakeholders to plan ahead and be ready for the temporary disruption.
