The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a temporary suspension of services on its iTax platform to allow for scheduled system maintenance this weekend.
In a notice released on Friday evening, KRA stated that the maintenance exercise will begin on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 8:00 PM and end by Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 12:00 AM. The planned downtime will last approximately four hours.
“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iTax from Saturday, 25th October 2025, 8:00 PM to Sunday, 26th October 2025, 12:00 AM,” the notice read in part.
During the maintenance window, the iTax system will be unavailable to all users, meaning taxpayers will not be able to access essential services such as filing returns, generating payment slips, updating profiles, or applying for tax compliance certificates.
KRA expressed regret over any inconvenience the outage may cause, emphasizing that the exercise is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance system reliability and improve service delivery.
The authority urged individuals and businesses to complete any urgent transactions before 8:00 PM on Saturday to avoid disruptions.
Since its launch in 2014, the iTax platform has been a cornerstone of KRA’s digital transformation journey, offering a one-stop online interface for tax registration, filing, payment, and compliance monitoring. The system has enabled millions of taxpayers to interact with KRA digitally, reducing the need for physical visits to tax offices.
KRA continues to invest in maintaining and upgrading its digital infrastructure to ensure the iTax system remains secure, efficient, and user-friendly.
Taxpayers are encouraged to stay informed through official KRA communication channels for updates once the maintenance is completed and normal service resumes.
