The government has made a fresh round of appointments across various ministries, with Cabinet Secretaries Wycliffe Oparanya, Aden Duale, John Mbadi, and Lee Kinyanjui leading the way in unveiling 25 new officials in different state committees and boards.
Leading the list is Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, who announced 15 appointments to serve in the newly constituted National and County Steering Committees on the Revival of Coffee through Cooperatives.
According to a gazette notice, the committees will serve for two years starting October 31, 2025, with Njeru Ndwiga as Chairperson, Daniel Chemno as First Vice Chairperson, and James Wachihi Muturi as Second Vice Chairperson.
Other members include Timothy Mirugi, Laura Wanjiru, Charles Rintaugu, Kennedy Kilwake, Okioma Mwancha, Caroline Cherotich, David Obonyo, Henry Kinyua, Elijah Gichuru (Dr), Felix Mutwiri, Felix Miano, and Richard Kiprono Magut.
At the county level, the County Commissioner will co-chair the committee alongside the County CEC for Agriculture or Cooperatives, with the KPCU Representative serving as secretary. Members will include county officials from the agriculture and cooperative departments.
In the health sector, CS Aden Duale appointed six members to the Nursing Council of Kenya for a three-year term. The new appointees are Collins Otieno Ajwang, Salome Nasimiyu Situma, Dr. Teckla Ngotie, Gilbert Sigei, Prof. Juliana Misore, and Sarah Marrey Burje.
Meanwhile, Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi named Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri-Zaja and Henry Gathara Karinga to the Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited Board of Directors.
Treasury CS John Mbadi appointed Felix Useru Nyauchi to the Insurance Tribunal, replacing Sammy Cheepkwony, the current SRC Chairperson.
Finally, Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui appointed Gor Anthony Ochieng to the Kenya Consumer Protection Advisory Committee, rounding off a week of significant administrative changes across key government departments.
