Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has lauded the enduring partnership between Kenya and the United States during a farewell meeting with the outgoing U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Marc Dillard.
The meeting marked the conclusion of Dillard’s diplomatic mission in Kenya, during which he played a pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations. Mudavadi praised Dillard’s tenure, noting significant progress in areas such as trade, investment, and technological innovation.
“We reaffirmed our shared commitment to deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and innovation,” Mudavadi said. He emphasized that the strong bond between the two nations continues to serve as a foundation for regional stability and economic growth.
The two leaders also held discussions on pressing regional and global security issues. Mudavadi noted the importance of ongoing dialogue in addressing the rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape. “Our discussions touched on regional and global security concerns, particularly the evolving geopolitical landscape and its broader implications for economic resilience, human capital development, and multilateral cooperation,” he stated.
Dillard, who served as the United States’ top diplomat in Kenya in the absence of a formally appointed ambassador, expressed confidence in the continued growth of the Kenya–U.S. relationship. He conveyed optimism that the incoming U.S. ambassador—appointed by former President Donald Trump—would build upon the solid foundation laid during his own tenure.
“I leave Kenya with immense respect for the strength and potential of the U.S.–Kenya partnership,” Dillard remarked, expressing gratitude for the support and collaboration he received during his mission.
Mudavadi extended his appreciation for Dillard’s service and wished him well in his future assignments. “We are grateful for your dedication and contribution to deepening our diplomatic ties,” he said.
As the diplomatic baton passes to a new U.S. envoy, both nations reaffirm their commitment to advancing mutual interests and upholding democratic values, security cooperation, and economic development across the region.
