MultiChoice Kenya has announced significant price reductions on its DStv and GOtv decoders, a move designed to attract more subscribers amid stiff competition and declining viewership. The festive offer, running from November 1 to December 31, 2025, aims to boost sales and reward customer loyalty.
Under the new pricing, the DStv Zapper Decoder now costs Sh850, down from Sh1,199, while the GOtv decoder retails at Sh799, reduced from Sh999. The company has also lowered the prices of installation accessories — the DStv dish kit now goes for Sh1,650 (previously Sh2,000) and the GOtv antenna for Sh700 (down from Sh1,000).
In addition, MultiChoice has reintroduced the GOtv Value package, now available for Sh599, targeting budget-conscious households seeking affordable access to quality entertainment.
“These offers are our way of saying thank you to our customers for their loyalty and trust, while inviting new customers to join our growing family,” said Nzola Miranda, Managing Director of MultiChoice Kenya.
The company’s decision comes after a steep drop in subscribers — internal data shows that active DStv users fell from 1.19 million in June 2024 to just 188,824 by June 2025, an alarming decline of over 80 percent.
Industry observers blame the exodus on repeated price hikes and the rise of illegal streaming sites offering premium content for free or at minimal cost. In August 2025, MultiChoice raised prices for the fifth time in three years — DStv Premium now costs Sh11,700 (up from Sh11,000), while Compact Plus subscribers pay Sh7,300 (up from Sh6,800).
With growing competition from online streaming and free-to-air platforms, these price cuts may be a crucial step for MultiChoice to reclaim its foothold in Kenya’s rapidly evolving entertainment market.
