Kenya Power has announced a planned electricity outage on Sunday, September 7, 2025. The blackout will affect estates in Nairobi, Kajiado, Kisumu, and Uasin Gishu counties.
The company said the interruption will help improve power supply reliability and efficiency.
Power will go off at 9:00 am and return at 5:00 pm in most areas.
Estates Affected in Nairobi
Several areas across the city will be hit by the outage.
- Babadogo: New Kenafric Factory, Old Kenafric Factory, Rubber Factory, Cussons, Siraj, Kariadudu, Roy Transporters, Chandaria Factory, Regal Pharmaceutical, Impala, E.A Foundry, Babadogo Catholic Church, and nearby customers.
- Nairobi CBD: River Road, Sheikh Karume, Luthuli Avenue, Accra Road, Duruma Road, Dubois Road, part of Kirinyaga Road, Charles Rubia Road, and surrounding businesses.
- Garden Estate: Jewel Ministries, Garden Estate Mall, KBL Offices, Prabaki, GSU Headquarters, and nearby areas.
- Nairobi West: Muhoho Avenue, Mama Ngina Children’s Home, Muhuti Avenue, part of Ole Shapara Road, Uchumi Road, Heshima Estate, Aljazeera, Five Star Estate, Ruby Estate, Halai Estate, Jua Kali Road, Olive Road, St. Catherine Catholic Church, Momon Estate, Midland Court Estate, Fedha Apartments, and Parkview Apartments.
- Kenyatta, Mbagathi & Kibera: Madaraka Garage, Geomap, Kenyatta Hospital Flats, Mbagathi Way, Ngumo, Kibera Laini Saba, Unduku, and Silanga.
Other Counties to Experience Blackout
- Kajiado: Isinya Town, Technosteel, Kingsun, Kisaju Plains, Pipeline Road, Enchoroi, Nandonderit, Kisaju Mixed, Inkiito, and nearby customers.
- Uasin Gishu: Catholic Diocese, Eldoret Hospital, Daima Towers, and surrounding areas.
- Kisumu: Specific estates will lose power between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Kenya Power has advised customers to prepare in advance. The utility noted that the scheduled maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to deliver more reliable and efficient electricity across the country
