Three companies based in Nairobi and Machakos have announced the auction of unclaimed vehicles, motorcycles, and household goods after owners failed to collect them within the required time. The announcement was made through a gazette notice dated October 31.
Startruck Car Yard Storage revealed that it will auction motorcycles, tuk-tuks, and trucks left uncollected at its yard within 30 days. Some of the vehicle and motorcycle brands listed include FH, Tata, Mazda Familia, Toyota Probox, Isuzu EFL, Hino, Toyota Land Cruiser, and SkyGo.
According to the notice, owners interested in reclaiming their vehicles must settle all accumulated storage charges, including interest, publication, and incidental costs, before the auction date. The vehicles will be sold by Green Bells Auctioneers, located at Idge House, Munyu Road, Nairobi. The proceeds from the sale will go towards settling accrued charges.
In Syokimau, Taylor Matthews Limited also announced plans to dispose of a range of household and commercial items. These include furniture, electrical appliances, décor, cutlery, utensils, beddings, clothes, paintings, and portraits. The items are stored at the company’s premises in Emerald Business Park (Kutch Road).
Owners have 30 days to reclaim their belongings by paying all outstanding storage fees. The company stated that the items would be sold through public auction or private treaty, with any remaining proceeds credited to the owners after deductions.
Additionally, Bellway Auctioneers, acting on behalf of Oilers Auto Garage, has received approval to auction two unclaimed vehicles stored along Changamwe Road, Nairobi. Owners of the vehicles have similarly been urged to pay pending charges within 30 days or risk losing their cars to the auction.
The auctions highlight the importance of owners promptly collecting their property to avoid additional costs and loss through disposal.
