Naivas Supermarket has announced the appointment of Andreas von Paleske as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2025. The retailer confirmed that Andreas, who currently serves as the Chief of Strategy, will take over from David Kimani, a founding member of the company who has led the retailer through decades of expansion and innovation.
Andreas has been part of the Naivas leadership team for eight years, during which the company grew its store network to over 100 locations nationwide. His close collaboration with the outgoing CEO is expected to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Kimani, who has been with Naivas since its founding in 1990, announced his decision to step down during the company’s 35th anniversary celebrations in July 2025. “Having achieved several landmark milestones and with a strong leadership team in place, I could not think of a better time to pass on the baton to Andreas,” said Kimani.
Despite stepping down from top leadership, Kimani will continue to play an active role in the business, working alongside Charles Mukuha, Director and Chief of Administration, and Peter Mukuha, Chief Operating Officer.
Commenting on the appointment, Arnaud Lagesse, Chairman of Naivas International, praised Andreas’s understanding of the company’s culture and his extensive industry experience. “With Andreas, we have the right leader to take the business to even greater heights,” he said. “His appointment ensures continuity and positions the company for its next phase of growth.”
Before joining Naivas, Andreas held senior roles with Lion Capital and Actis, bringing over 20 years of investment and operational experience in the consumer and retail sectors.
In a statement, Naivas reaffirmed its commitment to delivering value to customers, partners, and communities, emphasizing that the leadership transition will reinforce its focus on sustainable growth and operational excellence.
