The National Youth Opportunities, Training and Advancement (NYOTA) programme has successfully completed its validation exercise in Homa Bay County, marking a significant milestone in the nationwide rollout of the government’s youth empowerment initiative.
All eight constituencies in the county concluded the process without any irregularities or reports of misconduct, reflecting the programme’s growing credibility and strong local participation.
According to County Commissioner Ronald Mwiwawi, a total of 8,275 youth applicants were successfully validated across Homa Bay. Homa Bay Town recorded the highest turnout with 1,675 participants, followed by Karachuonyo (1,475) and Ndhiwa (1,315). Other constituencies included Kabondo Kasipul (851), Rangwe (822), Kasipul (795), Suba North (766), and Suba South (576).
“We are pleased to announce that the Nyota validation exercise in Homa Bay has been completed successfully in all eight constituencies, with no reports of any peculiar cases,” said Mwiwawi. “The support from the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) was superb and played a critical role in ensuring efficiency.”
The NYOTA programme aims to empower Kenyan youth aged 18 to 35 years through training, internships, and start-up support designed to enhance employability and entrepreneurship. It targets unemployed or out-of-school youth seeking to gain practical and digital skills for self-reliance.
Beneficiaries will access vocational training, business mentorship, and funding opportunities under structured county and national-level programmes.
The validation exercise, a key step in the implementation phase, was carried out to confirm applicants’ eligibility, documentation, and identity details.
The NYOTA Secretariat is expected to release the final list of verified beneficiaries in the coming weeks, paving the way for training and mentorship sessions across counties.
