Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions across 12 counties on Thursday, citing essential maintenance works to improve grid reliability and ensure safety. The power outages, which will generally run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., are expected to affect parts of Nairobi and key regions in Makueni, Bomet, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, Bungoma, Kisii, Homa Bay, Nyeri, Isiolo, Kiambu, and Taita Taveta counties.
In Nairobi, power supply will be cut in select areas including Kitsuru specifically Lower Kabete Road, UoN Lower Kabete Campus, Mwimuto, New Kitsuru, and Kitsuru Springs Estate. Gigiri residents along Mangolia Drive and Daize Close will also be affected. Additionally, the vicinity near St. Mary’s School including Loreto Msongari, Muthangari Police, parts of James Gichuru Road, and Kabaserian Avenue will experience outages.
In Makueni County, areas from Maiani to Isovya such as Maiani Market, Enzai, Mukaa, Nguluni, Kitandi, and Nunguni will face blackouts from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bomet County residents in Lolgorian and Mararianda including Olpisiai, Kichwa Tembo, Angama, Oldonorok, and Masururaangata should expect outages between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
In Uasin Gishu, power will be cut from Olare Ndanai to Ainabkoi, affecting areas like Ngarua, Chelachbei, and Kapkeno.
Other regions to be impacted include:
- Kakamega: Musoli Market, Bukura College, Sigalagala Polytechnic.
- Bungoma: Bukembe, Mechimeru, Kombo, parts of the Nzoia Sugar belt including Machinjoni, Mabanga ATC, and Rojja Villa.
- Kisii: Nyangusu, Getumo, Magena towns (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
- Homa Bay: Gendia, Kosele, Karabok, Gonche.
- Nyeri: Upper Ring Road, PC Residence, Kamakwa Market.
- Isiolo: Archers Post, Wamba Town, Sarova Shaba, nearby conservancies.
- Kiambu: Zambezi, Muguga, Kamangu, and Juja’s Bob Harries Road area.
- Taita Taveta: Maktau Town, Lumo Conservancy, Kwa Mnengwa, Lions Bluff.
Kenya Power has advised affected customers to plan accordingly and apologized for any inconvenience the outages may cause, reiterating their commitment to enhancing power supply efficiency and safety nationwide.
