President William Ruto has made a series of new appointments and reappointments to various parastatal boards, reinforcing his administration’s efforts to streamline leadership and enhance governance across state corporations.
According to gazette notices dated July 11, 2025, Ruto reappointed Charles Nyachae as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya School of Government Council for another three-year term. Nyachae was first appointed in January 2024 and will continue steering the Council’s strategic direction.
In a fresh appointment, Ali Noor Ismail was named as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Pest Control Products Board. His three-year term commenced on July 11, 2025. Similarly, Abdi Mude Ibrahim was appointed as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute, also for a three-year term beginning the same day.
President Ruto’s appointments were complemented by those made by various Cabinet Secretaries. Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku appointed Leonida Chelagat Mitei and Dr. Francis Owino to the Kenya School of Government Council, while reappointing Linnet Mirehane, effective July 13, 2025.
In the transport sector, Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir reappointed Iltasayon Neepe to the Kenya Airports Authority Board for a three-year term. The reappointment aims to maintain continuity in the Authority’s leadership.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua extended Rose Omamo’s tenure as a trustee of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Board. In the water sector, Water CS Eric Muuga reappointed Regina Ndambuki as Chairperson of Tanathi Water Works Development Agency and made similar reappointments to the Tana and Northern Water Works Development Agencies.
Gender Cabinet Secretary Hannah Cheptumo reappointed Edwin Abonyo to lead the National Museums of Kenya Board, while Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui appointed Hamzo Alio Abdi to the Export Processing Zones Authority Board.
These appointments and reappointments, all with a three-year tenure, reflect the administration’s strategy to maintain experienced leadership while bringing in new perspectives to key institutions driving Kenya’s socio-economic development.
