Trade Principal Secretary (PS) Juma Mukhwana has urged Kenyan industries to embrace quality, innovation, and competitiveness as the nation accelerates its drive toward industrial transformation under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and Vision 2030.
Speaking during the Kenya Quality Awards (KQA) 2025 gala dinner held on Friday night at a Nairobi hotel, Mukhwana emphasized that quality remains the foundation for Kenya’s ambition to become an industrial hub. Representing Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui, he reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence that powers economic growth and global competitiveness.
“Kenya’s ambition to become an industrial hub under BETA and Vision 2030 rests on quality — the bridge between policy and practice,” Mukhwana said. He lauded local industries for their resilience, noting that some have operated for more than a century while maintaining a steadfast commitment to value addition and generational excellence.
He further underscored that quality certification is crucial in unlocking new markets, building credibility, and attracting investment opportunities that can expand Kenya’s global footprint.
Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs) Board Chairperson Chris Wamalwa echoed the sentiment, describing quality as “the cornerstone of a competitive and sustainable Kenya.” He said that quality represents more than compliance — it embodies innovation, ethical growth, and national discipline.
“Quality is more than a standard; it is a national ethos that drives innovation and efficiency,” Wamalwa remarked.
Kebs Managing Director Esther Ngari added that the Kenya Quality Awards aim to spotlight organizations that redefine quality through innovation, customer focus, and data-driven decisions.
“Quality is not just about compliance; it is about competitiveness, sustainability, and national pride,” Ngari said.
The 2025 Kenya Quality Awards celebrated organizations and individuals championing excellence, reinforcing Kenya’s determination to build a globally trusted and quality-driven economy.
