Capital Media Group has ushered in a new era of leadership with the appointment of Symon Bargurei as its new Managing Director, effective June 1. The announcement, made on Friday by the company, underscores a strategic shift aimed at bolstering its position in an increasingly competitive media landscape.
Bargurei brings to the role over 18 years of experience in leadership, media management, commercial strategy, and enterprise growth. His appointment is seen as a pivotal move as Capital Group seeks to redefine its presence in the digital age and expand its influence in the industry.

Prior to his appointment, Bargurei served as Group Strategy and Innovation Director at Unga Holdings Limited, where he played a key role in driving transformative strategies across business units. His previous roles include Commercial Manager at Nation Media Group and senior leadership positions at The Standard Group Kenya Limited, where he earned a reputation for driving sustainable growth and spearheading innovative projects.
Bargurei holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Nairobi and an Executive MBA from Strathmore Business School. He has also completed executive leadership programs at prestigious institutions including the University of Oxford (UK), IESE Business School (Spain), Strathmore Business School (Kenya), and the Gordon Institute of Business Science (South Africa). He is a member of the Institute of Customer Experience (ICX), underscoring his commitment to delivering value to audiences and clients alike.
