Kenya Power has announced a planned power outage that will affect several areas across Machakos, Nyamira, and Kiambu counties on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the electricity distributor said the temporary interruption is part of ongoing network maintenance activities aimed at improving the reliability and stability of power supply in the affected regions.
According to the company, the outage will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., during which technicians will carry out essential system upgrades and repairs.
In Machakos County, the blackout will affect parts of Mlolongo, including Ngwata Phase 3, Mlolongo Weighbridge, Kenya Power offices, Sapphire Business Park, Weighbridge Gardens, Kathangaita, and surrounding areas. Residents and businesses in these zones are advised to plan accordingly to minimize disruptions.
In Nyamira County, the planned outage will impact Ekerenyo and Obwari areas, also from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected locations include Mogeni Tea Factory, Ikonge Market, Kebabe Girls, Korota Market, Nyamusi Market, Nyamusi Hospital, and nearby customers. Kenya Power noted that the maintenance is critical for enhancing service delivery and reducing future unplanned outages in the region.
Meanwhile, in Kiambu County, residents of Kihingo will experience a similar interruption. Areas set to be affected include Kihingo Anglican Church of Kenya, Kihingo First, Second, and Third Avenues, and surrounding customers.
Kenya Power has apologized for any inconvenience caused by the scheduled maintenance, urging customers to make necessary arrangements in advance.
“Good evening. The following areas will be on planned power maintenance tomorrow,” the company stated in its notice, reaffirming its commitment to delivering consistent and reliable electricity services across the country.
