The Youth Enterprise Development Fund has lauded the latest government initiative to provide 2,000 job opportunities for Kenyan youth in Dubai, calling it a timely intervention in addressing youth unemployment in the coastal region.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua announced the recruitment drive, which will run for a week starting Monday, May 26, across Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale counties. The available roles include motorcycle delivery riders, construction helpers, and gardeners, with monthly salaries ranging from KSh31,000 to KSh120,000 all tax-free. In addition to competitive pay, successful candidates will benefit from medical insurance, accommodation, and in some cases, free meals.
“Youth in these regions now have an unprecedented opportunity to transform their lives through gainful employment abroad,” said a Youth Fund official. “We encourage young people to prepare well, meet the set requirements, and attend the interviews with confidence.”
Applicants must possess a valid passport or proof of application, and good grooming and professional appearance are mandatory. No academic qualifications are required, making the initiative more inclusive. Motorcycle riders must hold a valid license, and NTSA will be on site to facilitate licensing during the interviews.
The interview schedule is as follows:
- Monday, May 26 – Malindi, Butwani Waterfront Park, Silversand
- Tuesday, May 27 – Kilifi, Karisa Maitha Stadium
- Wednesday, May 28 – Mombasa, Mama Ngina Drive
- Thursday, May 29 – Kwale, Diani Showground
The Youth Fund emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in the selection process and praised the Ministry of Labour for ensuring integrity throughout.
“This is more than just employment; it is a pathway to economic empowerment for young people and their families,” the official added.
The Fund has pledged to work with other government agencies to support applicants with travel documentation and pre-departure training, ensuring they are adequately prepared for international work environments.
Kenyan youth are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative to build careers and gain global exposure.
