Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called on Ministry of Health staff to unite in driving Kenya’s healthcare transformation agenda, emphasizing professionalism, teamwork, and people-centred service delivery.
In an inaugural meeting with staff held in Nairobi, the CS reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering accessible, efficient, and high-quality healthcare for all Kenyans under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) framework. He stressed that the collective success of the Ministry depends on collaboration and mutual respect among all cadres, programmes, and institutions.
Duale urged Ministry employees to embrace open communication and cooperation, noting that effective service delivery begins with a positive and supportive work environment. He reminded staff that every role within the Ministry contributes directly to improving health outcomes and public satisfaction.
Highlighting the foundational values of public service, Duale referenced the principles enshrined in Article 232 of the Constitution — transparency, professionalism, integrity, and accountability. He noted that these values are essential for maintaining public trust and ensuring efficient health systems management.
The CS also linked the Ministry’s health agenda to President William Ruto’s broader national development vision, underscoring that health is a critical pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). He observed that a healthy population is vital to achieving the government’s goals in economic reform, industrialisation, education, and technological advancement.
Interactive sessions during the meeting encouraged staff engagement and teamwork, focusing on practical strategies to enhance efficiency, innovation, and alignment with the Ministry’s strategic plan. Participants shared insights on improving coordination across departments and strengthening service delivery in both national and county health systems.
Duale commended the Ministry’s workforce for their ongoing commitment to protecting the health of Kenyans and urged continued collaboration to realise the nation’s health transformation goals. He reaffirmed that sustained unity, professionalism, and accountability will be key to achieving a resilient, equitable, and modern healthcare system that serves all citizens.
The meeting was co-chaired by Principal Secretaries Dr Ouma Oluga (Medical Services) and Mary Muthoni (Public Health and Professional Standards).
