Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha has hosted Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale for a major county engagement on healthcare reforms. The meeting is part of the Ministry of Health’s county-to-county outreach, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare across Kenya.
Focus on County Engagement
The visit brought together ministry officials, county leaders, healthcare workers, and residents of Nyandarua. Discussions centered on strengthening health facilities, empowering workers, and ensuring services reach every household.
Governor Badilisha welcomed the initiative, saying it would boost Nyandarua’s capacity to deliver better health outcomes. He stressed that community health workers must remain central in linking families to formal care.
A Dual Strategy for Better Health
CS Duale outlined a two-pronged strategy for reforms. First, the Ministry will integrate community-based health systems to make services more accessible at the grassroots. Second, it will roll out the Digital Health Superhighway, a modern system designed to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in service delivery.
This digital approach will ensure accurate health data, faster referrals, and better coordination between county and national facilities. Combined with strong community networks, the reforms aim to guarantee that even remote areas enjoy reliable services.
Strengthening Partnerships
The Nyandarua meeting is part of a broader national plan to partner closely with counties. By blending technology with community engagement, the government hopes to build a health system that is inclusive, efficient, and future-ready.
Duale emphasized that reforms are not just about technology but also about equity. “Our goal is to make sure that every Kenyan, whether in a rural village or an urban center, has access to quality care,” he said.
Looking Ahead
The Nyandarua engagement is another milestone in the government’s journey toward universal healthcare. With county partnerships and modern tools in place, Kenyans can expect a stronger, more responsive health system.
