Doctors from Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Hospital in Kerala, India, have arrived in Kenya to pay their final respects to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The medical team, known for its expertise in Ayurvedic medicine, treated Raila and his daughter Rosemary Odinga in India.
The delegation was received in Mombasa by Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir, who is also the ODM Deputy Party Leader. Sharing the moment on X, Nassir expressed gratitude to the visiting doctors, describing Raila as a man whose “life and legacy transcended borders.”
“The global outpouring of love for Baba is a reflection of his extraordinary journey one defined by courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to justice and humanity,” Nassir posted.
He further added, “May his spirit continue to inspire us to build the Kenya he dreamed of united, just, and full of hope.”
Raila’s connection with Ayurvedic treatment became widely known after his daughter Rosemary travelled to India in 2022 seeking therapy for secondary optic atrophy, a condition that causes vision loss. After undergoing months of Ayurvedic treatment, Rosemary’s sight was restored — a recovery that sparked international interest in the traditional Indian therapy.
Ayurveda, an ancient system of natural medicine, is based on balancing the body’s three vital energies or “doshas” Vata (air), Pitta (fire), and Kapha (water). Ayurvedic practitioners believe that maintaining equilibrium among these forces promotes good health and longevity.
The treatment approach involves herbal remedies, dietary adjustments, massage therapy, yoga, and meditation, focusing on holistic healing rather than symptom management.
The visit by Raila’s Indian doctors underscores the deep personal and medical ties he forged during his lifetime and highlights the enduring global admiration for his leadership and humanity
