The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has issued a notice to all medical and dental practitioners, community oral health officers, and health facilities to begin the renewal process for their 2026 practice licences.
This comes after the Council extended the initial deadline from October 31 to December 31, 2025, giving practitioners and institutions more time to complete the process.
In its official statement, KMPDC confirmed that the online renewal portal is now open and accessible at https://osp.kmpdc.go.ke. The Council urged practitioners to renew their licences early to avoid a last-minute rush.
“You are therefore required to renew your 2026 licence before 31st December 2025. The Online Portal for the renewal of annual practice licences for all practitioners is now OPEN,” read part of the notice.
KMPDC further reminded practitioners that practising without a valid licence is a regulatory offence that could lead to penalties, including suspension from practice.
As part of the 2026 renewal process, all licensed medical and dental professionals must update their biographical data, while health facilities are required to submit returns on their current operational status.
The Council emphasized that under CAP 253, Laws of Kenya, every registered health institution must renew its operating licence annually. Sections 15 and 22 of the Act prohibit the use of unlicensed premises as health institutions and criminalize such operations.
Additionally, health facilities must promptly report any changes in location, ownership, or services offered to the KMPDC.
According to the Council, keeping practitioner and facility data up to date is vital for maintaining an accurate national database and for effective monitoring of professional conduct across the country.
