Activist Boniface Mwangi has revealed why he wants to run for Kenya’s presidency. His main focus, he says, is fighting corruption, creating jobs for young people, and protecting public resources.
In a short interview with a local media station on Friday, September 19, 2025, Mwangi said he understands the struggles Kenyans face. He believes real change can only come through courageous leadership.
“My family lives in fear that I might be killed anytime. For how much money is it worth it? It is not worth it. Whatever we have started, we must finish,” Mwangi said, showing the personal risks he has faced due to his activism.
Mwangi emphasized that his presidential bid is not about personal gain. He wants to transform Kenya’s leadership culture. His goals include giving young people opportunities, recovering stolen public wealth, and using national resources to improve lives.
“I want to give jobs to the youth and return public property that has been stolen,” he said.
Reflecting on more than 20 years of activism, Mwangi admitted it has been challenging. “I have given up so many times. I am tired many times. But if I give up, I will be a slave in this country,” he said.
He also spoke directly to young people, especially Gen Z. He urged them not to sell their votes or let leaders divide them by tribe. “Don’t sell your votes, whatever happens. Don’t be tribal. You can never achieve anything without courage,” he said.
Mwangi shared that if he had not become an activist, he would have been a history teacher. His campaign will focus on courage, accountability, and service to the people. He believes bold leadership is needed to break Kenya’s cycle of corruption and build a better future.
