Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has voiced strong support for Winnie Odinga following criticism from certain Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders over her comments on the party’s political direction.
In a post on X on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Amisi accused a section of party officials of turning against Winnie, labeling them “Ruto-sponsored sellouts” and opportunists who never truly believed in Raila Odinga’s ideals.
Amisi emphasized that while some leaders have shifted loyalties or aligned with rival political interests, Winnie Odinga’s dedication reflects the founding values of ODM. He praised her consistent support for her late father, highlighting her resilience in the face of political pressure.
“Winnie Odinga has been the pillar of her father; Baba died in her hands. I have seen her endure teargas and shield the father from political mandarins,” he wrote.
According to the MP, Winnie’s loyalty and actions over the years set her apart as a stabilizing figure within the party. Her steadfastness contrasts sharply with leaders who, in his view, never fully embraced ODM’s principles, prioritizing personal gains over the party’s vision.
Amisi also suggested that a reckoning within ODM is inevitable, predicting that genuine loyalists will emerge stronger while opportunists will fall aside. He reaffirmed that the dream of a better Kenya, championed by Raila Odinga, remains alive among committed party members.
“You can kill and sell the party to Ruto, but you shall never kill the dream of Raila for a better Kenya as long as Caleb is around,” he asserted.
This defense followed criticism from Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, who claimed Winnie lacked the political stature to challenge senior ODM leaders. The controversy comes shortly after Winnie addressed the ODM@20 celebrations in Mombasa on November 14, 2025, a month after her father’s passing. She warned that some party members were secretly plotting to betray ODM’s legacy, reminding leaders that the party was built on protest and resistance, not secret deals.
