Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has announced that he will not seek re-election beyond 2027.
Speaking on Monday, September 8, 2025, Amisi said his political career will end after 15 years in office, even if his constituents urge him to run again.
“I do not want to serve for 50 years. Even if the people of Saboti want me to vie again, I’ll tell them no, thank you,” he said.
A Call for Generational Change
Amisi explained that it was time for a new generation of leaders to step in. He said Kenyan politics must embrace change and responsibility instead of leaders clinging to power for decades.
“I only need 15 years to serve Saboti. After that, I will say thank you,” he added.
Plans After Politics
The MP revealed that if he loses in the next election, he will focus on farming. According to him, leadership should not be a lifetime job.
“If I don’t win, I’ll go farming. There are other capable leaders who can lead. You don’t need to stay in leadership for long,” Amisi noted.
Criticism of Long-Term Leaders
Amisi condemned politicians who hold onto power for too long. He urged leaders to give room for others with fresh ideas in areas like education funding, healthcare, transport, and electoral reforms.
“Can I allow somebody else to also take over? Maybe they have a better idea that can help this country,” he said.
Kenya Kwanza Criticism
Amisi has also been a sharp critic of President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government. On September 3, he accused the administration of wasting public resources while Kenyans struggle with economic hardships.
He went further to call on voters to reject the government in 2027 and push for what he described as a “national renaissance.”
