Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has strongly condemned what he termed as hypocrisy among some leaders who paid glowing tributes to the late Raila Odinga during his burial in Bondo.
In a passionate post shared on his official X account on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Amisi recalled the events following the disputed 2017 general elections, describing himself and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino as Raila’s closest allies during his battle for justice at the Supreme Court.
“In August 2017, Babu Owino and I escorted Baba like bodyguards to the Supreme Court to seek justice for his stolen victory when he was left to fight for himself,” Amisi revealed.
The outspoken MP took a swipe at a section of leaders who, despite praising Raila during his funeral, allegedly frustrated him while he was alive.
“Those who were speaking and shouting at his funeral in Bondo were his tormentors,” he wrote, lamenting the lip service displayed by some of Raila’s political associates.
Amisi vowed to carry forward Raila’s dream for a better Kenya, promising not to abandon the struggle.
“Hypocrites have successfully buried you, Jakom! But we shall not let you down even in death. The struggle for a better Kenya continues! Aluta continua. Viva!” he affirmed.
His remarks came barely a day after he criticized Kisii Governor Simba Arati for suggesting that President William Ruto should join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following Raila’s passing.
Amisi dismissed Arati’s statement as insensitive and premature, urging ODM members to focus on mourning before engaging in political realignments.
“What nonsense is this? We need seven days of mourning before anyone starts declaring Ruto anything. Kenya needs a renaissance,” Amisi stated.
The Saboti MP’s bold comments underscore deepening tensions within ODM as members reflect on Raila’s legacy and the future of the party after his demise.
