Senior Counsel and governance expert Charles Kanjama has officially declared his candidacy for the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) presidency for the 2026–2028 term.
In a post on X on Friday, November 14, 2025, Kanjama said, “After thoughtful consideration & counsel, I will run for President of the Law Society of Kenya (2026–28). The time is RIPE for a clean principled campaign and leadership focused on Rule of Law, Integrity, Practice & Welfare, and Engagement.”
Kanjama, a constitutional lawyer with extensive experience in governance, enters the race as the current LSK President Faith Odhiambo continues her official visits across the Mt. Kenya region, engaging members on pressing issues affecting the legal profession.
On Thursday, November 13, 2025, Odhiambo shared updates from Kerugoya, highlighting candid feedback from local advocates. She said, “Our zeal to serve members is reinvigorated by these interactions, which serve as a reminder of the centrality of the Law Society of Kenya in safeguarding the practice environment for advocates.”
Odhiambo’s tour, which began in Embu, has focused on discussing professional challenges and enhancing the quality of services provided to LSK members across the country.
Kanjama’s announcement marks the start of what is expected to be a competitive campaign season. His platform emphasizes integrity, advocacy for member welfare, and a robust stance on rule of law issues. Early reactions from LSK members suggest the contest will be closely watched, with the legal community keen to assess the visions of prospective leaders.
As Odhiambo’s term approaches its final stretch, the 2026 LSK elections are shaping up to be a defining moment for the society. Advocates across Kenya are now anticipating a campaign that could reshape the leadership and direction of the LSK for the coming years.
